Flu Shot Clinics

This is a helpful reminder to all our readers that flu season is coming upon us and given the past year’s circumstance with swine flu you may be feeling a little more concerned this year. Across the street from our Signs Now Mill Creek center is a brand new Bartell Drug Store and I do believe that they offer flu shots and perhaps other kinds of shots, too.

Here’s their address and phone number:

18001 Bothell-Everett Highway

425-402-6485

Bartell Drugs usually allows walk-ins, but you might want to call them and check on that. Alternatively, you may have to schedule an appointment so ask them about that. Scheduling an appointment might be more convenient and a way to ensure that your shot is ready and waiting when you get there. They accept Medicare Part B. The pharmacists can immunize anyone that is 14 years or older though I believe ages between 14 through 17 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Other vaccinations might also be offered for Pneumonia, Tetanus, Gardasil and Shingles. Do call them and check with them. Their phone number is above.

While your there, check out the fabulous new Bartell store!

Signs Now Mill Creek attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the new Bartell’s Drug Store at the corner of Bothell-Everett Hwy and 180th Street SE right across the street from Signs Now Mill Creek headquarters.

There were many people who attended and among them were Bartell corporate staff, store staff, vendors, a Chamber Ambassador and customers. The event occurred at around 10 AM on Tuesday, August 25th. The interior design is beautiful with ample floor space, excellent lighting and fabulous merchandising. Inside the space a plethora of corporate staff were mingling and admiring the new store. One could tell through their interactions that this is a very tight and cohesive group of people.

Folks were chatting and exchanging polite conversations while indulging in beverages and snacks. Off on the far side of the room was the owner George Bartell who was partially mingling but mostly analyzing the store and taking notes. I found that very interesting and my first impression of him was that he is mostly business-like and analytical.

I congratulated him on his new store and he thanked me. I asked him if the store is corporate or franchised and he said something to me that was subtle and powerful. I remember his response sticking out in my mind as curious, but I did not know the full impact until a few minutes later. He told me that the business is family owned. He also told me that Bartell’s is a regional operation and not a national one.

A short while later the milling crowd was asked to move outside in the parking lot in front of the main entry doors. The Bartell’s Marketing Vice President spoke first and introduced George Bartell. He spoke of (I believe) his grandfather and how he had started the family business. He then spoke of his wife and teenage daughter who were in the audience and how his daughter spent the summer stocking the shelves of the new store prior to its opening and so learning the operations of the business. It then occurred to me that the reason that the corporate staff is so cohesive is precisely because the Bartell family is so close. I then understood more fully what George Bartell had told me earlier about being a family business. I believe that this is a very good family with strong roots, tradition and values.

Mr. Bartell’s daughter cut the ribbon and then we all went inside for carrot cake!
